COVID-19 Relief: Ghana FA to get $1.5m from FIFA The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is to receive $1 million from football's world governing body FIFA as part of a $1.5 billion being made available for the football community as part of a COVID-19 relief plan. Ghana, like other FIFA member associations will receive and additional grant of $500,000 from the world body specifically for women's football. Following a FIFA Council meeting via video conference on Thursday, which unanimously approved a revised budget for gthe 2019-2022 cycle, the GFA and other association will be eligible to apply for interest-free loans amounting to up to 35 per cent of their audited annual revenues. NDC vs EC Ruling: We Respect The Decision Of The Supreme Court - EC The voters registration exercise billed to start from Tuesday, June 30, will happen as planned, the Electoral Commission has announced. A Press Statement issued by the Election Management Body(EMB) asked stakeholders to be on standby for the exercise. “The Commission entreats all stakeholders to hold themselves in readiness for the Voters Registration Exercise”, a statement signed by Mrs. Sylvia Annoh, Ag Director of Public Affairs, said. The registration exercise will end on August 6, 2020. The latest notice comes on the heels of the Supreme Court’s clearance on Thursday for the EMB to proceed with the exercise in accordance with CI 126. The parties involved in the suit were sharply divided over the Court’s direction. The Electoral Commission in a statement after the ruling has said it takes this opportunity to assure its stakeholders that the Voters Registration Exercise will start from Tuesday, the 30th of June, 2020 to the 6th of August, 2020. Man gets free supply of indomie for 6 months after returning GHc2,700 found inside a carton he bought A Nigerian man identified as Mr Chidiebere Ogbonna reportedly returned the cedi equivalent of GHS27k he found in a carton of noodles (Indomie) he bought from a vendor. Reports had it that the money was mistakenly placed in the carton of Indomie when he went to buy it. Upon getting home and realizing that his carton had this amount of money which was not his, he returned the carton with the money back to the owner. Chidiebere display of honesty in this critical time os severe inadequacy has been of a surprise to many who said his decision was a poor one while he believes he did what was right. The vendor who could not hold back his joy thanked him and told him to come back and collect a carton of “Indomie” whenever he needs it till December.

Court Bonds Rev Obofour For Infringing Copyright Law An Accra Circuit Court has bonded Reverend Kwaku Agyei Antwi alias Rev. Obofour to be of good behaviour for six months for extracting part of Celestine Donkor’s song titled “Agbebolo”- bread of life, without her consent. He pleaded guilty with an explanation to infringement of copyright contrary to Sections 42(1)(a) and 43 of Copyright Act of 2005, (Act 690). Rev. Obofour told the Court presided over by Madam Eva Bannerman Williams that he accepted liability as the owner of the various Television (TV) stations that used her music without consulting her, adding that he had already met her and paid compensation. The Court took the explanation as a plea for mitigation convicted Rev Obofour on his own plea.
